This is our Annual Event where various individuals will be making short presentations about their renewable energy system. Its a great way for interested people to learn about solar and geothermal energy systems.

About the Event

Because of COVID, the 2021 GLREA Solar Home Tour will once again be ‘on-line’ this year with Zoom. We have organized a series of speakers who will talk and present video or pictures of renewable energy systems or related topics. Each speaker will make a short presentation and then take questions from the audience on-line.

Join the live virtual tour for some or all of the presentations. Here is the schedule of presentations: 

10:00 am  John Freeman of GLREA will open the Program and provide a quick overview of todays Event.

10:05 am  Dave Strenski of SolarYpsi will explain his program  and show videos of solar installations in Ypsilanti. 

10:20 am   Mary Ann Baier will talk about her energy system consisting of 14 Enphase panels, 6 batteries, etc. 

10:40 am  Bob Synk will talk about his Solar Water Heating system and his solar system for electricity in Grand Rapids.

11:00 am  John Sarver will talk about his two rooftop solar systems in Meridian Township, east of Lansing. 

11:20 am  Ben Dueweke will talk about his solar at his house and solar at the North Corktown pocket park in Detroit. 

11:40 am  Mark Clevey will talk about his 100% solar home in Harbor Springs, MI.

11:55 am  Break

12:00 pm Jake Schuster of Harvest Solar, will talk present on showcase medium size solar commercial projects.

12:20 pm  Bruce Westlake will talk about how his solar system powers his Tesla electric car. 

12:40 pm  Alan Waller of Water Furnace will talk about geothermal energy systems.

1:00 pm   Rev Joan Ross of North End Woodward Community Coalition will discuss Wifi Solar Charging Stations.

1:20 pm   Jack Droze of Distributed Solar will talk about hybrid systems with batteries and smart panels.

1:40 pm  Juan Shannon of Parker Village, will talk about his solar 4.5kW Solar Pergola and 6 solar streetlights.
