GLREA 2022 Year End Year Begin Meeting

About the Event

The Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association (GLREA) always holds a meeting at the end of the Year, we call the 'Year End - Year Begin' Meeting. The pupose of this Meeting is to go over the accomplishments of 2022 and to prepare for our work in 2023.

Our Event Theme is 'Accelerating the Transition to Renewable Energy.'  We are using this theme because we believe there are a number of factors that lead us to believe that the transition to renewable energy is rapidly accelerating due to:

  • Fossil fuels contribute to Climate Change and are very expensive due in part to the war in Ukraine.
  • The United States Congress enacted the Inflation Reduction Act, that encourages homeowners and buisness to purchase renewable energy - solar and geothermal. This Act restored the Investment Tax Credit to 30% for 10 years, which reduces the cost of purchasing solar and geothermal energy systems.
  • Utility rates keep going up every year so people can save money and contribute to a cleaner environment by investing in a solar or geothermal system.

GLREA wants to discuss the role we want to play to support this acceleration in 2023.

This year's Meeting will be held on Zoom because of continuing concerns regarding COVID.  Hopefully we can hold this Meeting in person next year.

Tickets are $25 per person. The Zoom Link will be sent out to all those that buy a ticket, as we get closer to December 3rd.

The Program is still being developed but the following panels will be held:

  • The Current State of Renewable Energy in Michigan
  • GLREA Program Activities
  • How the new Federal Law, the Inflation Reduction Act supports this work.

Our Keynote Speaker will be Professor Mark Jacobson of Stanford University, who has developed plans on how each State, including Michigan, can generate all the electricity it needs from renewable energy sources.

So please buy a ticket for yourself and all your family members and join us on Saturday, December 3, 2022 for the GLREA  Year End - Year Begin Meeting. Its an event you won't want to miss!
