GLREA and three other organizations MI Energy Efficiency Contractors Association, MI Geothermal Association and the Green Home Institute, organized the first 'Zero Net Energy Residential Conference' held in Grand Rapids on May 8, 2019. This conference brought together energy efficiency, geothermal and solar energy experts to discuss and share what a Zero-Net home is and ways to break down the barriers to get new and existing residential buildings to become zero-net.
Our next Event will be on March 31, 2021 on Zoom at 12:00 noon. But it will recorded so if you can't join us at 12:00 noon, you will be able to watch the recording at a time convenient to you.

Zero energy homes are just like any home—except better. They are regular grid-tied homes that are so air-tight, well insulated, and energy efficient that they produce as much renewable energy as they consume over the course of a year, leaving the occupants with a net zero energy bill, and a carbon-free home.
The goal of these Events is to bring people together to learn about those types of homes and how we can expand this growing market.
GLREA wants to thank our Sponsors - Michigan Energy Office, Consumers Energy, Walter-Furnace, GeoComfort, Tstud and Mitsubishi Electric for supporting this Event.

Events like this seminar make the idea of zero net energy homes feel much more achievable, not just theoretical. I liked the practical angle—design choices, everyday habits, and long-term thinking all coming together. In a way, it echoes how people approach mindful living at home too; even something as simple as placing a buddha statue in a quiet corner can be a reminder to live consciously and with balance. Sustainability works best when it becomes part of daily life, not just a technical goal.
